Biography

Charlie Hall has lived in Fairfax County since 1985 and in Providence District since 1994. He is currently Chair of Providence District Council, a non-partisan civic organization of citizens and homeowner associations in the Providence District. He has been president of the Blake Manor Home Owners Association and continues to represent his association on land use matters.

Charlie is a co-founder of Fairfax Citizens for Responsible Growth (FairGrowth). He has pushed for a greater citizen voice in local government, and for balanced, sensible planning that protects and serves our entire community. He has led numerous citizen town hall meetings on growth and transportation issues and helped initiate a county-citizen effort to define and set limits on development around transit stations. Charlie has written extensively in local publications on the importance of community inclusion and sound planning as the county considers increasingly urban development projects.

Charlie has a bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University. He has worked as a journalist on the Metro staff at the Washington Post and has covered Northern Virginia governments. He currently serves as presidential press secretary for the American Bar Association.

Charlie's two daughters attended Fairfax County public schools. He lives with his wife Robin in the Blake Manor neighborhood near the Vienna Metro station.
