Providence Candidate Charlie Hall Accepts Invitation to Second Candidates’ Forum
Hall welcomes the interest of local sports communities and civic groups concerned about how development in Providence will affect their playing fields and quality of life.

Charlie Hall, candidate for Providence District County Supervisor, today accepted an invitation to a second Providence Candidates’ Forum being sponsored by the Vienna Little League, Vienna Youth Soccer, Vienna Babe Ruth League, the Hunter Mill Defense League and the North Gallows Road Coalition. The second Candidates’ Forum will be held at the Dunn Loring Fire Station or at another suitable venue in the Vienna/Merrifield area. An initial Candidates’ Forum being sponsored by the League of Women Voters and The Connection Newspapers is scheduled for May 23rd at the James Lee Community Center, at the far end of Providence District.

"Providence District is blessed with a very active and committed youth sports community," said Hall. "They need to know that the County will not compromise their contribution to the American Dream by allowing development to outpace their ability to put kids on fields. I am here to tell them, and the parents of the children they teach, that I will protect their interests if elected Providence District Supervisor."

Hall noted that the sponsors of the second Candidates’ Forum are generally located in the "Development Triangle" bounded by Tysons Corner, Merrifield and MetroWest, where dense developments both approved and being planned are overwhelming the capacity of the area’s roads, schools, parks and streams. "We don’t want our treasured green spaces to get even more overburdened," said Hall.

The invitation to a second Candidates’ Forum was issued on Friday May 18, 2007 to both Providence District Supervisor Linda Smyth and challenger for the Providence Supervisor seat, Charlie Hall. The Democratic primary, scheduled for June 12th, is widely expected to decide who will be the Providence Supervisor for the next four years. Dates proposed for the second Candidates’ Forum include May 29th, 30th, and 31st, depending upon the candidates’ availability.

"I will make attending this debate a top priority on any of those dates, or on virtually any other date prior to the election" said Hall. "These community groups deserve to have their questions directly addressed by the candidates before they are asked to vote."

Incumbent Linda Smyth has not yet responded to the invitation.
